Studying Sharks

Dr. Samuel Gruber checks the flow of water through this nuse shark's nose. Scientists have to be careful because, although nurse sharks are usally docile, they can give a nasty bite.

Dr. Gruber has studied lemon sharks for over 10 years. They do not mind being handled and do not need to swim to breath, so they can be kept still while scientists make their observations.
